The icon represents "permanently delete it and stop processing more rules".

    John:

"Stop processing " **any* more rules? Or just on THAT particular item? If it is "any", then what? I put that rule at the end?

You appear to be describing part of a Rule you already have in force. (It does only apply to "...THAT particular item...") HTH

Are you sure John? I have a "Forward every message" Rule that also has that icon. I was initially wondering if it means it's a server side Rule, but I don't have any evidence, and I don't know if Chuck is on Exchange, so I haven't responded to Chuck.

You are probably correct John. Reading this article , and in particular this sentence - "Your rules list also provides an

'Microsoft consistency' is technological oxymoron. It's puzzling (but not surprising) that these icons aren't detailed in the Help. Perhaps they are, but I can't find them.

    Re: Symbols3 (MSO 2003)

    Guys:

I went to a MS newsgroup, and Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP and Author of "Microsoft Outlook Programming - Jumpstart for Administrators, Power Users, and Developers" tells me that in effect the "Stop Processing..." Allows you to just set up an if / then... And *only* applies to rules that match the criteria set out in the specifics of the "if"...

    Chuck

They, according to my understanding, indicate that the rule has a "Stop Processing..." selection included.

All my rules have that icon, whether they stop processing more rules, or not. That's why I figured it was gratuitous.

I THINK that the hammer & wrench that appear on some rules (at least "some rules" on my machine") show up on rules that you halt under given circumstances -- if this, then stop processing -- for I was able to produce it under those circumstances.
