Pop3 Account (2003)

Can a POP3 account be setup so that all email for that account is received in it's own Inbox?

Provided you use the Rules Wizard|New Rule|Move messages with specific words in the subject to a specified folder|Next - check the "through the specified account" box and uncheck the "with specified words in the subject" box - you should be able to achieve this. HTH

So, I'm not missing something in setting up the account? Has to be done with rules?

Thanks, Jefferson, I'll check it out. I was hoping I missed something in simply setting up the account. Webmail accounts get their own inbox (and folder structure) but apparently not so with POP3 accounts. Wonder why...

I haven't used any Webmail accounts with Outlook, but perhaps it is connecting to them as IMAP servers? The way you describe it sounds consistent with the way Outlook handles IMAP accounts.

    Re: Pop3 Account (2003)

If you've got different accounts all headed for the same Inbox, then the only way you can siphon 100% of one account off - client-side - would be through Rules. If you're talking about an Exchange Server set-up (2000 or 2003), then something else might be possible server-side - although it might be tricky. These days, Active Directory means that Inboxes are linked to log-on ID. This, in turn, means generally restricted options for forwarding/copying to a designated individual. HTH

    Re: Pop3 Account (2003)

I've made a rule as you suggest. Works well. I do have a problem with email sent to me where the To: field contains: "undisclosed-recipients".

    Thanks again for your help.

    Re: Pop3 Account (2003)

For the "undisclosed-recipients", I can only suggest building up a Distribution List based on "bruised fingers" (viz. school of hard knocks)

New Rule
Move messages from someone to a folder
Check the following boxes

from people or distribution list
with specific words in the recipient's address

You may be able to add a few people to the DL up front. Presumably, however, not all "undisclosed-recipients" mail is going to be for this particular account.
