    InfoPath (2003)

Has anyone here tried using Access as the Backend of an InfoPath Form? We tried today with a very simple database, but whenever we tried to create the Combo Boxes in InfoPath, they wouldn't display data from the underlying Table. Just thought someone might have come across this before?

Thanks in advance if you have experience in this or know where would be a good place to look for help with this (Google Search didn't yield many good results!).

Have you investigated http://www.infopathdev.com/? That is a site devoted to InfoPath.

How are you trying to populate the ComboBox? I suspect that InfoPath, with which I am totally unfamiliar, uses ADO.Net with the Jet OleDB provider to retrieve values from the Access database, so it doesn't sound much like an Access question, but someone here or in the .Net forum may be able to help if you provide more information..

Yeah, I checked it out, but it doesn't look like it's that it's well used or is even being monitored.

Don't know how InfoPath connects to Access but it allows you to link to it and then to select a Table from which the cbo takes its values. However, it doesn't display them?

Oh well, maybe we'll just use Access without InfoPath?

You control InfoPath using scripting. Supposedly InfoPath comes with a large library of sample script and sample forms. Have you looked at how comboboxes are populated there? I would be very surprised to hear that all you had to do was bind a table to one as in Access.

    Re: InfoPath (2003)

We looked at the Tutorial and did indeed look at the Combo Boxes on the predesigned Forms. Seemed quite straightforward, and they could be changed easily. There's a Startup Wizard that helps you connect your InfoPath form to Access, and the Tables appear in a Dialog Box as Queries & Tables that you select as the Source of the cbo. Seems straightforward, but apparantly not. I just thought we were overlooking something.

Pity there aren't more sites that help with InfoPath, as it's seemingly not as easy as it's made to look. Oh well. <img src=/S/sad.gif border=0 alt=sad width=15 height=15>
