    Export specification (A2K SR-1)

I am exporting a query to a csv file using VB code where I specify a export specification
eg. stExportSpec = "CostCentreManagers Export Specification"

On occasion I have to modify the specification and rather thatn using the wizard
to make the changes and then save it back over itself, I wonder whether the specification
exists somewhere so that I can make changes directly to it.

Is it stored in a file or part of a system table?

    Any help appreciated.

Export specs are stored - you can specify and save them if you do a manual export. I don't know whether the Access object exposes them to VBA however, so you may not be able to manipulate them programatically. There is also a file called schema.ini that can be used when doing imports or exports, but there doesn't appear to be any documentation in the help file that tells you how to use it. <!mskb=155512>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 155512<!/mskb> tells you how to use it to control the import/export process for text files.

Specifications are stored in two hidden system tables, MSysIMEXSpecs and MSysIMEXColumns. I haven't tried it, but I suspect that - as most system tables - they are read-only.
