    Message Text (2k)

Hi, I was wondering of Outlook has macro capability? or if i could use Excel in conjunction with outlook? This is what i'm looking to do:

I have a list of numbers that get checked against a database, and the results are e-mailed to me. You can only enter a few numbers per try (the web page form is limited), so I end up getting a ton of e-mails with results. So what I want to do is use outlook to go through all messages recieved from the database mailer, and create a list of whether or not a number was verified (this would be done by examining the e-mail's body's text). I would have the original list in Excel that I could check it against, so if Excel is the program I should be writing the macro in, just let me know and I'll ask in that forum. But if its not, how do I go about writing a macro in outlook?

You can control Outlook from other applications using Automation. This means that you create an Outlook.Application object, for example in an Excel macro, and use that to execute Outlook VBA statements.

WendellB has a short tutorial on Automation on his website, with useful links: Automation 101.

Helen Feddema has several examples on her website, see Code Samples.

And you'll find lots of examples if you search for Outlook.Application in the Access, Excel, Outlook and VB/VBA forums.

I thought that might be the answer, I just read a post on automation post a few minutes ago... thanks Hans for the resources.
