    properties (Windows XP)

I just bought the book Windows XP for Dummies. It refers to the properties menu, when I right click on the screen and click on properties for some reason it won't open. I'm not sure when this started. I know how to go into properties and have several times to change my screensaver, etc. now for some reason it won't open. Any suggestions?

Does the right mouse button work as expected in other situations? Could it be that the settings for the mouse buttons have somehow got changed? You could check the mouse settings in control panel.

Do you have Administrator priviledges on the machine ?? If someone else does and you do not, then they can restrict what changes you can make to the system. Are you the only person using this computer ??
