Yesterday's Mail, Only (Office Pro 2003)

I use Win XP Home Edition. I've been using the Office Pro 2003 for a whole week now. I guess I must have worn it out because now, it only downloads yesterday's email, up to 11: 59 pm. Today's email will appear, hopefully, tomorrow morning. I ran "Detect and Repair" and it didn't detect anything to repair.

Does anyone either have a solution or know if any of the free office suites will sync to a Palm OS PDA?

Apple is beginning to look better and better, especially after I went to the MS website for help and the first thing they wanted was $35. I guess that Microsoft stands behind their products ------- way, way behind.

That's certainly strange. The problem could be your settings, or with your ISP, or with the way you are connecting. Have you explored the settings in Outlook 2003 under Tools | Email Accounts |View or Change | Change ... , and under Tools | Options | Mail Setup?

Most Palm devices routinely come with Chapura PocketMirror Standard, which will sync with Outlook without any problem.

Also, please read <!rule=11>Rule 11<!/rule>.

Thank you for you reply. I did go to Tools | Email accounts and was able to send myself a test message which I received through Earthlink's webmail site so I know that the program is capable sending . The only way that I've been able to get email on a continuous basis all day long is through Earthlink's webmail site, so I don't think that it's my ISP; they're coming through with the mail.

Everything in Tools | Options | Mail Setup | Email Accounts and Send Receive are checked and the entries are correct.

I know that this is a Windows oriented forum but I'm mad as hell with MS, I'd be just as happy to switch to another office suite like OpenOffice.org if I could sync my Palm OS to it or to another non-MS program

I understand your frustration, but 99.9% of Outlook users do not have the problem you are having. I think we should think about some other things before junking the software. (Besides, I have plenty of other complaints about Outlook, but yours won't be one of them. )

So you can see these messages when you review them on Earthlink's webmail client, but they don't get delivered until 24 hours later? That still doesn't sound like an Outlook problem. I don't use Earthlink, so I can't give you specific advice, but if it was my ISP I'd check for messages announcing problems, and Google for member boards to see if there are current problems. I would also check my spam settings to see that I haven't set them so stringently that a lot of valid mail is being held (I did that recently in error).

Are your Outlook Tools | Options | Mail Setup dialog and the child Send/Recieve dialog settings pretty much the same as the attached?

Are you on dialup or broadband?

How many messages are there in your Inbox. Is your Inbox View Filtered (check View | Arrange by | Current View | Define Views | Modify | Filter is set Off?

Does the lower right part of the Outlook task bar show any errors? If you press F9 to send and receive, there should be an icon there that lets you view the Details dialog (click fast ). Anything on the errors tab about not being able to contact the server??

Hi John,
I guess that I wasn't clear enough but the email that I was receiving in Earthlink's email website was coming through as a steady stream - the way Outlook should have been. But, for some mysterious reason, the problem went away and Outlook is working the way it should. All's well that ends well.

The icon in the right corner just said receiving 25%, 50% 100% but no mail appeared and there were no error messages.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.
