WinXP Will Not Boot (WinXP Pro/SP2)

My WinXP installtion will not start normally. I can get it to start using a DOS boot disk, otherwise the start up bar for the installation show erratic movement and then stops. I've tried re-installing SP2 but this doesn't solve the problem..any ideas other than reinstalling the OS (it seems to be working o..k. except for boot problem)!!!

I'm wondering if your BOOT.INI file is corrupt. But first, have you tried Safe Mode (F8)?

Right afer sending request for help my computer would not boot at all and I sent it to the shop. The problem was in the BIOS and it was fixed...So no further help is needed...Thanks for any interim responses......
