    LAPTOP(NOTEBOOK)

I'm budgeting for a new laptop. Hoping to get something under AUD$2K which can buy a bit these days. What are Woody people using, and what are your thoughts? There are a million reviews out there, too many to be useable. Honest opinion from hands on users is appreciated. I am after something that can handle games, and has a dvd player (although CD burn is adequate)

At my office, we've pretty much settled on Dell Insprions. They seemed the best balance of price/performance/battery life. Your mileage may vary.

We did get one of the notebooks with a bigger, better video card to support a user that spent a lot of time in photshop. However, games could be a different story. Some gamers are buying $400USDsuper-high powered 3D video cards. It's necessary for a lot of these games. However, the kind of video you can get in a laptop is much more limited.

If gaming is truely on of your main specs. you should probably investigate notebooks specifically desinged for gaming.
