Hooker's Trick Gin & Tonic Sorbet

I just came across this and while it isn't "cooking" it's an interesting recipe that combines some ingredients that I would never have thought to put in the same bowl !!

    1 large gin and tonic
    2 egg whites
1 cups finely grated zest of lemon
    2 Tsp icing sugar

    Method:
Whisk egg whites and sugar into a peak.
Combine with gin and tonic and zest.
    Whisk vigorously.
Put into a container and freeze.
During the freezing process, it is essential to whisk at intervals at least five or six times to combine the egg-white properly with the gin and tonic.

Wow, now that's what I call combining dessert and post dinner drinks in one, means I would get to bed earlier!
    Must try this, thanks for the posting! <img src=/S/clapping.gif border=0 alt=clapping width=19 height=23> <img src=/S/flags/NewZealand.gif border=0 alt=NewZealand width=30 height=18>

    Exactly <img src=/S/thumbup.gif border=0 alt=thumbup width=15 height=15> !! In fact, skipping dinner leaves MUCH MORE room for desert. <img src=/S/yum.gif border=0 alt=yum width=15 height=15>

Durn! And I don't drink...anymore! What intrigues me is the name. Do you know the drink's history?

Since you don't drink, this should be OK because you eat this !! <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> Unfortunately, I don't know any history about this recipe. But it seems to be rather common knowledge and if you're really interested, this Google search might yield a site that will give you some history. HTH
    <font color=red>The link doesn't work. It takes you to a search for "Gin". Do a search for "Gin & Tonic Sorbet" and it will give you the results I got.</font color=red> <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>
