Server error? (2002 SP-3)

No server here, stand alone app.

I had to do a full system restore this morning, and when I opened OL I got the attached error. I went and checked all my settings and they were correct. I then did an office "repair" but still have the same proble. I re-set all my e-mail account settings (pop and smtp) and still can't connect to their server on "test settings". What the heck!

Oooops! Also, nothing (even Outlook Today) will display.

If you can get into Outlook at all, see if File | Work Offline is checked. If so, click this option to uncheck it. Does that help?

That seems to indicate that the settings for your e-mail account are not entirely correct. Please check them very carefully.

I double-checked everything (and even re-entered the settings), but still don't even get 'Outlook Today'; let alone server connection. The latest error msg is just slightly different.

You're probably working offline again. Select Tools | Options..., activate the Mail Setup tab, and clear the "Send Immediately when Connected" check box. (You can set it again once you solved the problems.)

An Outlook expert (I am most definitely not one) will have to assist you further.

    Re: Server error? (2002 SP-3)

Hopefully, these questions may clarify things a little:

What exactly are you checking your SMTP server settings against? Do you have a copy of the original notification from your ISP?
What was the problem that made you do the System Restore?
What makes you describe it as a "full System Restore"? Normally, this is a roll-back under Windows XP? Are you referring to a Repair install - where you have to start the Install Program - instead?
HTH

    Re: Server error? (2002 SP-3)

Thanks HTH, but I've finally resolved it with a registry scan/correct (Registry Mechanic). But, seeing as you took the time to ask the questions:

By heart

Crash

I turned off XP's restore (not much good when a drive gets trashed) when I bought a REV drive. Daily data backups and weekly system backups.
I appreciate the reply!!
