    kb891781(05-013)

I have installed all Feb,05 critical updates recommended--but one--namely, KB891781.....It's description states I/E security settings are changed to "High" and auto detection, install on demand and multimedia settings are all disabled.....
***I'd like to hear from loungers who have installed this kb who might have some advice on the best way to go about handling any problems this kb might create....
*****Also, as a side-note.....Is this the best forum to post questions re MS Critical updates>>???......OR.......should I post in the forum for my O/S (in my case XP).....??
Thanx for any / all help......

This update is installed both on my home PC (Win XP Home SP-2) and at work (Win XP Pro SP-2), and I haven't experienced problems. Multimedia in web pages still work.

I also have applied the patch at home and on multiple machines at work without a problem. If you read the security bulletin in the Vulnerability details section there is this

"I am running Internet Explorer on Windows XP Service Pack 2. Does this mitigate this vulnerability?
Yes. Windows XP Service Pack 2 introduced a security enhancement known as the Local Machine zone lockdown that mitigates this vulnerability."

Since you are running SP-2 you should be OK as long as you haven't messed with you Zone settings by overriding the Local Machine lockdown.

Joe and Hans....Thanx for your responses......Since I haven't done any changes to any of the settings, it sounds like all should be fine.......Thanx again for the reassurance.......Carol
