    System information tool

Here's a <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> tool that gives you a lot of information about your system About SIW - System Information for Windows by Gabriel Topala. No install needed just d/l and run.

    Re: System information tool

Thanks Joe. Nice utility. One of the bigger ones, at 1.18MB. Probably better suited to a CD than a floppy, as part of a "portable toolkit", but lots of information.

    Re: System information tool

That is why I carry a "Thumb drive", a 256 megger, By the way, we picked up a 1 GIGGER for the wife the other day.

The SIW program looks like a VERY good one.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Do you know that ClamAV shows a (false) positive for SIW.EXE? Found at scanning by http://virusscan.jotti.org/

    Dave

Why not get a sensibly-sized 4 GB PenDrive?

That doesn't surprise me actually. It tries to "phone out" in order to determine numerous IP settings etc. I discovered this when I ran it offline and it stalled on all the Network information.

    Re: System information tool

Haven't done a detailed comparison. The volume of information appears similar. Best thing about SIW is just download and run no installation required. That can be valuable if you have a CD or thumb drive full of tools.

Network --> Hosts Scan --> DCOM checks for computers running DCOM and displays the patch level.
