Playing a Movie on click (2003)

When I insert a movie, PowerPoint doesn't give me the option to Play on Click or Automatically.. How can I change this option?? Does this option perhaps not apply if it is a .GIF file? Thanks, Andy.

PowerPoint considers a .GIF file to be a picture, not a movie, even if it is an animated .GIF file. If you select Insert | Movies and Sounds | Movie from File, .GIF is not in the list of extensions for Movie files.

When you insert a movie initially, it gives you the option to play it automatically. If you choose No, it will play when you click it in the presentation. You can control it if you go SlideShow (menu), Custom Animation, and select the multimedia tab.
