    Dave,
I thinkit might be a while before anyone uses it, since it will only be available in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!

True, but is has been released in some of these countries. I just hope any of the Lounge users that get it will note that they are using it when they have a XP Starter question.

    Windows XP Starter Edition:

    - Does not support multiple user accounts
    - Has low screen resolution (800x600 max)
    - Does not support networking
    - Can not run more than three applications simultaneously

Besides Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand, Starter Edition is also bound for Russia and India this year, although the Indian launch has been postponed from March until June.

    Silicon.com writes:

"Martin Gilliland, principal analyst with research firm Gartner Asia-Pacific: "Starter Edition has not gained much interest from vendors nor has it generated much interest from end users."
Gilliland attributed the tepid response largely to the high piracy rates in these emerging countries.
He added that the smaller computer retailers in these countries tend to buy their systems from larger PC OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and then load them with cheaper, unlicensed versions of Windows."
