Partly corrupted file - lots of comments (Word 2003)

In my office I have a Word file that has a lot (+++) of comments from a number of different people. It also has about 30 references inserted using EndNote. I reached a point where trying to insert another reference (after deleting the original), causes the program to hang.

I accepted/rejected as many changes as I could without success. My question now is, is there any way to copy all of the text, including comments, to a new document? I tried it using a simple cut and paste, but just got the text without the comments.

    TIA

Try saving the doc in each of the following formats and see whether any of those formats produce a clean do.

    a. RTF.
    b. Word 97-2003 & 6.0/95 RTF
    b. An earlier version of Word.

I'd add XML to that list of formats to save out in.

Comments should copy over. If you check the Reviewing pane, are they there but just not visible in the document??
