    Reservation (XP:SR3)

Is it possible to save a document that would prevent modifications to the file and not display the file reservation when opened ie "read only"?

    Thanks,
    John

    Check under Tools, Options, Security.

    Catharine,

I have looked under Security and one can set or restrict the document from being modified. What I am after is a secure document that no one can modify and without the reservation warning when the EndUser would open the document indicating that someone else has restricted the file.

But suppose you have protected the presentation the way you want, and then discover that it still needs a small modification. You open the presentation - it's locked. You can't do a Save As, you can't copy and paste the slides - you're <img src=/w3timages/censored.gif alt=censored border=0>. I assume that Microsoft doesn't offer the option you want for this reason.

    Hans,

What you say makes sense. I didn't want anyone to see the file reservation when they open it.

    Thanks,
    John
