    Permission Denied to create object (Access 2000 SR-1, VBA)

    hi
    I've got a pretty complex Access VBA application running, that launches Word to create some specialised documents. I't been working fine in production for a few years.
    This morning one machine, and now another have fallen over. They crash on the code below. Even this simplified code falls over with error number 70 'Permission Denied'. It's running on Win XP SR2, and has been running fine on that platform for a few months. No patches or other software has been installed; we're behind a corporate firewall. Automatic updates is off.
    Note that Word works apparently fine by itself.
    Help!
    <pre> Dim wd As Word.Application
    Set wd = CreateObject("Word.Application")

    </pre>

    Something must have changed. I would ask the network administrators whether they changed something in group permissions, group policies or something like that.

    Still checking, thanks Hans.
    The problem has only cropped up on two out of 20 machines; those two are the only ones running XP SP2.

    There are some reports in the newsgroups that this problem occurred with test versions of Windows XP SP-2, but that it was solved prior to the official release of SP-2. Do the two problem PCs happen to have a test version of SP-2 installed?

    RESULT: Permission Denied to create object

    No, the machines were running full SP2
    We have rolled SP2 off those machines, and the problem has gone away.

    Re: Permission Denied to create object (Access 200

    i've only seen that error when trying to operate on a password protected project, but not via createobject.

    perhaps the normal template's project is password protected and locked for viewing?
    perhaps createobject win't open word in that circumstance, i've not tried myself.
