    The "Old" forum

Ya know, this new Lounge is pretty darn good, but I still find myself longing for the old frames version. I found it easier for following multi-branching threads.

I am interested in starting a forum for my volunteer organization. My question is: Where can I get my hands on a discussion program that worked like the old system?

    I agree with you but "Mummy" <img src=/S/eileen.gif border=0 alt=eileen width=17 height=15> hates the word 'Frames'.
    May the warts <img src=/S/cauldron.gif border=0 alt=cauldron width=20 height=20> go with you.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Re: The old forum

You malign me, Sir! I find frames can be a very useful, indeed sometimes the only, way to handle some situations. Don't forget I *created* the old framed version for our special needs. I believe it was unique and I don't know of any other available anywhere to this day.

I stopped using my hack because as the software got progressively more powerful I decided it was no longer needed.

Stick around and play with the present incarnation for a while and you'll soon learn to love it - it has heaps more features than it used to have and very shortly I'll be unveiling even more.

    Re: The old forum

(I agree that frames usually suck, but they CAN serve a good purpose).

I realize that the current application has many features, but it is missing the ones that I found the most useful. Things like being able to read a message while skimming the headers of the other threads, or replying to a message while reading the original was just soooo practical.

It's a pity that wwwthreads didn't pick up on your innovation and create an alternative product or feature (and earn a few coins for yourself).

You can still see the original when you're making a reply - it's quoted down at the bottom.

You gave us such a bad time before when we were talking about how we liked your old forum using frames. Yes you have and are still doing a great job, the improvements are great.

"You can still see the original when you're making a reply - it's quoted down at the bottom." Yeeeessss, but you have to scroll down to see it. Having the original in the adjacent pane was ever so handy.

Oh, well, we can't always get what we want.

I can't see it when I am making a reply, it is off the bottom of the screen. I have to keep scrolling back and forth to remember what I am replying to. Do you have two screens or a 35" monitor?
