Re: Run Rules Now! - Please! (MSO 2003)

If that's a PST file that you have been having trouble with - in other aspects as well - may I suggest that you migrate all the data to a new PST file; incase you develop further problems? HTH

May I suggest you edit your post to show your e-mail address as something like cwbillow@somewhere.com.

On importing your Rules, have you tried including yourself in the the Contacts folder - with your actual e-mail address?

Run Rules Now! - Please! (MSO 2003)

    Update:

I just rebuilt all my rules... After paying around with a 3-5 rule file, I decided that the rules themselves must have gotten corrupted... It's working now, so I guess that's what was wrong...

Why is it that if I go into Rules and Alerts, and then Run Rues Now, if I select a rule with the space bar, it checks off the rule but then then "cursor" goes all the way to the end of the listing? Regardless of where I am when I hit "space bar" it goes to the end of the listing.

Could I just import to a new one, export then import, ...?

Should I just rename it, so that MSO will set up a new, clean one, and then import pieces?

AAMOF, one of the things I seem to have a LOT of trouble with is the rules: If I export them, and then import them, even if the folder structure is the same, the links are gone.

When you first open the rules, they appear OK, but then when you close the rules, you get a warning about missing links... if you continue the "close" when you come back into the rules, you find a majority of your folder links gone, and many of your "set to contains" changed to show the name of the sender. But if that Sender isn't in youyr address book, the "C. W. Billow" won't translate into cwbillow@componentics.com, so I have to re-enterr all of them...

I've added my e-mail to my posts... Thanks.

As for my Contacts, I already have a complete 'card' on myself, with e-mail etc. Is this what you meant?

The separate file way of MSO 2000 certainly seemed a lot easier... Was there some major gain in this new methodology?

As things presently stand, it does not seem so. Some coherent argument might be put forward in terms of Microsoft's long term plans, but that would appear to be of little help to today's user. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>
