    Caption Numbering (2003)

One document contains an executive summary and the normal text. I want to number tables and figures in the Executive Summary with Roman Numerals (I, II etc), in the remainder with Arabic Numerals (1, 2, 3). Both systems should start at 1. Does anyone know how to do this?

You can if you make the captions different, e.g. "Summary Table" and "Table", or "Figure" and "Illustration". Each series will start at 1, and you can specify the number format for each independently (click Numbering... in the Caption dialog AFTER specifying the new caption.

You can create your own caption styles,

Would it be acceptable to have one caption called "Figure" and the other "Figure "? The trailing space causes it to be a different caption and therefore it can be configured with a different numbering style.
