    Windows Media Player (Windows XP/SP2)

I've been running SP2 for some time problem free. Running Media Player 10 problem free. This weekend I replaced my DVD ROM drive cause it died. THe new one would just hang Media Player/Computer. Changed setting for DVD in MP from digital to analog, it worked for CD's. Now it doesn't play .wmv, once again system locks up. I have had 2 drives that I have installed, same for both. I installed both drives the same as the initial, power and data cables only.

In addition to this I installed the free trial of Office 2003 Standard. When I installed this I did not do a complete uninstall of Office XP Pro. Could this be some of the problem?

    Thanks for any help available.

    Michele

    Michele,
Did you try booting your computer without the drives connected first? I have found that this is sometimes the little slap that windows neeeds to pay attention. Then connect them one at a time.
