Removing a new record (Access 2K)

The form has three fields that require a value. When I accidentally click the button to add a new record, it doesn't allow me to remove it until I enter data on those fields. Is there a way to overcome this? Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Re: Removing a new record (Access 2K)

I suggest you use a separate unbound form to add records. That way the user only saves the record when a Save button is clicked. There also can be a Cancel button which simply exits the form.

You add code behind the Save button that validates the users entries and only saves when this is successful. If there are validation errors, the code can exit back to the field required with a helpful MsgBox message.

Using unbound entry forms also allows more than one table to be populated from the save, and data can be incorporated from other tables.

Pressing the Escape key once or twice will cancel the new record.
