File Manager for Excel (Excel 2003)

I am looking for something that is the equivilent of the "work" menu in word to use with Excel to help manage files. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks.

Unfortunately, Excel doesn't have a Work menu. Excel MVP J.E. McGimpsey wrote an add-in that provided it, but it is not available anymore, and the promised new version hasn't materialized.

As an alternative, you could create a workbook with hyperlinks to the workbooks you want to use frequently.

Another possibility, although quite different, is to open a group of workbooks, arrange them the way you want, then save a workspace file (.xlw). A workspace doesn't contain the workbooks themselves, only information about which workbooks are open and how their windows are arranged. You can create any number of workspace files.

I've attached a copy of the work menu Hans talked about.

There is a more recent version of that add-in available from ftp://ftp.mcgimpsey.com/excel/site/

It is in .sit (StuffIt) format. For those who do not have a file compression utility that supports this format then you can use StuffIt Expander

Thanks everyone. Also thanks for the add-in info. Great suggestions for alternative approaches too. Woody's Lounge comes through again!
