    "Application Exception"

    Word 2000
I've scanned a document into Wordpad, then opened the file in Word and saved it as a Word2000 document. Now I'm formatting it. To aid the process, I've opened an older document that contains the font and paragraph formatting that I want to use in the new document. In the old document, I select a paragraph and click on the format painter. Then I switch to the new document, select the target paragraph and apply the formatting of choice. This process probably appears cumbersome (there must be an easier way to do this), but it works...well, sorta. All was going well today until I tried to apply the formatting for a sub-paragraph (formatted as "List 2"). The instant I drop the formatting onto the target paragraph, I get an error message and Word shuts down. This happened twice. When I re-opened the app the first time, my new document had been recovered. The second time, however, I could not find the document at first. I resorted to Start/Find/Files and Folders... and found the missing document in c:My Documents. (I should add that both files reside on a network server, but the application resides on my c:.) In Dr. Watson, I found a record of the "application exception," but the gibberish told me nothing to help me understand why Word crashed. Fact is, I've never used Dr. W to diagnose or cure anything. I've attached the complete Dr. Watson record of the incident. Can anyone shed any light on the problem? <img src=/S/dizzy.gif border=0 alt=dizzy width=15 height=15> Or can anyone point me in the right direction (MKB, e.g.) to find a solution? Thank you!

The Dr. Watson attachment didn't attach.

    Lucas,

Not sure why this action is killing your Word session, but since we all know how touchy Word can be sometimes, a pragmatic solution is to just find a different way to apply the styles! :-)
