Can Grow property on controls in forms (XP / SP3)

I often use the Can Grow property on reports. However, I cannot understand the property on controls on forms. is it only if you print a form that this kicks in? Other than that, I cannot figure out what it does. Am I missing something?

    Confused.

That's correct, The online help states about CanGrow and CanShrink:

This property affects the display of form sections and controls only when the form is printed or previewed, not when the form is displayed in Form view, Datasheet view, or Design view.

When you are editing data in a form, the controls won't grow or shrink.

Thanks Hans. You are certainly one knowledgable dude. I guess I was just hoping. I don't always use the help because often I find it less then helpful. Maybe I should persevere . . .

    Thanks.

Is there any way of applying can grow / shrink (or a work around that has the same effect ) to a form in form view or datasheet view?

Not really, and I don't think it would be desirable. A report is intended for displaying/printing data. Text boxes on a report don't have scroll bars, so to be able to view all data and yet keep the report compact, it makes sense to adjust the size of text boxes to their contents. Forms are interactive; I think that a text box expanding and shrinking continually while it is being edited would make me nervous.
