Setting Database Edit/Find Options on Load (2002)

    Hi,

I have a database that needs to be installed on multiple computers in my office. I'm presently using winzp extractor and that is working fine. I normally have the user uncheck the three boxes in Access Options Edit/Find Confirm so that they aren't nagged everytime a query runs etc. It would be easier if the when the database loads there is code in the load function that automatically takes the check out of these boxes. Is this even possible?

    Thanks,
    Leesha

I'm not sure about changing the values in the options settings (I'm sure there are others who can tell you that). What I would recommend though is using <font face="Georgia">DoCmd.SetWarnings False</font face=georgia> at the beginning of any code that runs action queries, which will stop users being prompted to confirm additions/deletions etc. to the database. Be sure thought to add <font face="Georgia">DoCmd.SetWarnings True</font face=georgia> to the end of the code too, though.

    Hope this helps,

    Hi Dave,

I'm starting to do this now after Han's helped me with a piece of code the other day and pointed me in this direction. But with this particular database (its huge) I'm trying to avoid going backwards to do that, but will if I need to.

You could set the options in the On Load event of the startup form of your database:

    Application.SetOption "Confirm Record Changes", False
    Application.SetOption "Confirm Document Deletions", False
    Application.SetOption "Confirm Action Queries", False

But it could be confusing to the user that those settings have been changed behind his/her back. I wouldn't like it if a database did that.

I doubt these users would know they have the option and besides, its the privilege of being the database administrator!! There has to be something in return for making their lives easier in the long run LOL!

Thanks, I'll give it a shot,
