Disk Full Error and Equation Editor (Word 97SR2)

I have been getting a "disk full" error when I try to save. The disk is no-where near full of course. I thought it might have been from having too large an Undo Stack and looked through the archives, found the macro to clear the stack, but it didn't help. However in the course of searching I found a mention of corrupt equation editor being the problem. I was creating a lot of equations - in both the documents with this error. I found a suggestion to save as RTF and import back again. I was able to save as RTF - it gave me a message saying that some objects could not be saved. I have yet to see if all the equations are ok.
I have lots more equations to do.
Is it (likely to be) one corrupted equation? If so, how can I find it?
Is it because I have to go into Equation Editor and out again each time I make an edit to an equation or create a new one?
Is there a "best practice" to avoid getting Equation Editor corruptions?
Are there any preferred Options for using Equation Editor?
    thanks

The Equation Editor is a reduced functionality free version of a more powerful product, the name of which escapes me. I think it was mentioned in older threads on the Equation Editor. If you do a LOT of equations, you might invest in the commercial product.

If you are sticking with Equation Editor, I think you may find that there is nothing in particular that makes a particular one fall apart. I've had people copy and paste chunks of their document into another Word document starting from the beginning and including one more equation at a time, saving after each paste. When they can no longer save the new document, they have discovered which equation object has the problem: the last one they pasted. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

    Hi Ruth,

As an alternative to the Equation Editor, check out HP EzMath at:

    It's freeware too.

    Cheers
