    Add ons

    After reading the star post I was wondernig about add-ons...

    Is there a specific forum section i could go to for add-ons for any or all of MS Office products? if not can a section for add ons be created so people could share their macro/addon creations or whatever it may be to make lounge peoples' lives easier? i know i have a few macros that people on the forums have helped me with and I'd be more than happy to share them.

    Oh and I keep getting a run-time error whenever I browse the forum - its very annoying <img src=/S/aflame.gif border=0 alt=aflame width=16 height=16>
    Line: 1
    Error: Invalid Character
    <img src=/w3timages/blueline.gif width=33% height=2>

    Add-ins are best discussed in the forum for the application they work in.
    You'll find lots of useful code and downloadable examples in all of the Office forums. But the Lounge was not set up to be a freeware exchange.

    About the error message you mention: it would be useful to tel us which version of Windows you are using (including service-packs), and which version of which browser you are using to visit the Lounge.

    yeah i know you can look in each forum but unfortunately you can't just search for "useful stuff" in forums. i usually only search for specific things as i think about them myself. I also figure that people would be more likely to submit their ideas if there was a section created specifically for it - it seems that the forum is used mostly as an answer service as questions arise and aside from the occasional star post - not a resource for new and fun ideas to try. I wouldn't call it a freeware exchange as much as personal solutions to help spark learning new things.

    Re: Add ons

    There are very few complete add-on products posted in the Lounge - by my observation only, Jan Karel Pieterse and macropod are probably the two Loungers who have contributed the most in terms of all-in-one solutions. (Apologies to whoever I have overlooked.)

    I suppose the reason is that even though there are skilled developers asking questions and giving advice here, most of them can't share their finished work product because their employer owns it. You might want to look at the Star Post indexes, found at the top of the index page, for posts judged to have high value, and for add-ons try the MS MVP sites.

    Within a give Application Forum, you can always ask if anyone knows of something to do what you want.
