    Trouble pasting in Word 2000

I'm having trouble pasting in Word 2000. I get an "insufficent disk space" error, which I have attached. I can get this error with nothing else, but Word open. I have tried closing Word and restarting it. I have tried cleaning temp files. The only thing that seems to work is waiting at least an hour, then it will work. I have Office 2000 SP1 running on a Windows 2000 Pro machine with a 500MHZ AMD K6 processor, 300MB of RAM, and more than 20GB of free hard drive space. Thanks in advance.

A cold re-boot (turning off the power and tehn restarting) has solved many a problem for me. Another thing is that you may not have enough contiguous space. Try defragmenting your HD, if you haven't done so in a long time. Disable Norton Utilities or any other file recovery utility, or purge the recoverable files before doing so, because they do not really clean up the recycle bin.

It may make sense in Win 95/ 98 to check the virtual memory settings and choose the "Allow Windows to Manage..." option. I don't know abt Win 2000 Pro.

This may give you the How, but for the Why, you may have to aks someone in Redmond.

The error message you got is Word's generic error message and really means "I'm broke. Something came up that wasn't anticipated by the programmers."

What are you trying to paste when it breaks? For example, I occasionally get that same message when I try to copy a page from IE to Word 2000.

yes, I believe I get it when I am trying to copy from IE. Although, I only copy text, not other graphics, and once I get it I can't copy anything. Not even a sentence from another Word document. Do you know anything to do about this. I've had Off2K and IE 5.5 running together for months and this just started. Also, I did recently install Norton SystemWorks 2001. Could that be the cause? Thanks.

Re: Trouble pasting in Word 2000

I had the problem immediately after upgrading to Office 2000, IE 5.5, and Norton Corporate Edition, so I don't know what caused it for sure (too many variables). I do know that I haven't had the problem since upgrading to the dreaded Office 2000 SP2. Sorry I don't have any real help for you. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

Did you try pasting by using Edit, Paste Special?
