how can i track down what is happening and when? (OfficeXP)

    I have the following issue.

From a certain Word template users will create a new document. As soon has the document is saved they will want to print out the doc. When they print it goes thru our custom print code. This results in Word hanging.

If they get an existing document created from the same template > do the exact same print sequence> it goes thru our custom print code - no probs with Word hanging & it prints out correclty.

When I step thru the code to try & debug. Its in a particular function that Word hangs. Just when I thought it was on a certain line of code - I would remm out this code & step thru again. only for Word to hang again. this has occured on several lines of code within that function.

    for example in this function

it gets the users printer type
sets the documents 1st page paper source & other page paper source
'note current printer and set the printer if necessary

each of these lines i have remmed out & stepped thru - Word hangs.
i can only assume that the error is occuring somewhere in here in this function.

The issue only occurs on new creation of this document.
This issue is occuring for some users and not others. The users the issue is occuring on can consistently replicate the error.
which leads be to believe it isnt the template code & maybe something else. could be a rights issue?

    My dilema is
how can i track down what is happening and when?
is there a utility that can assist me in tracking down whats occuring in Word? on the pc? while the code runs?

If these same users that have the problem close the file before printing, then re-open it, can they print without the hang? Just trying to figure out what the dividing line is between an "existing" and a "new" document.

    Hi

yes i closed the new doc & then reopened to print. the result Word hung again.

perhaps that particular template is corrupt. ill clean it up. although if the template was corrupt you'ld think that everyone was getting the issue not just certain users?
