    Drop Down Menu (2002)

Is there a way to copy & paste a drop down menu within the same document to save from having to recreate the same menu in several different places?

I've tried Copy & Paste, Paste Special, Help, looked at Bookmarks, but I can't seem to figure it out.

    Can anyone help?

    Thx

What do you mean by "a drop down menu"? Is it a dropdown form field from the Forms toolbar, or a combo box from the Control Toolbox, or something else?

Sorry - I mean a drop down form field from the Forms toolbar.

If you go to Tools/Customize and select Tools in the left panel you will be able to add any icons from the Forms toolbar- and many other icons- to either the Standard, Formatting, or any other toolbar you want simply by dragging the icon from the box on the right panel to anywhere in any toolbar that you want.

    Does this answer your question?

If you want to duplicate the form dropdown, i.e. have two dropdowns with identical dropdown lists in different places in the document, you can do that using copy & paste:
    - Create a form dropdown and add items to its list.
    - Select the dropdown.
    - Copy it to the clipboard.
    - Go to the location where you want the duplicate.
    - Paste the dropdown.

If you want to refer to the item selected in the form dropdown in another location in the document:
    - Double click the dropdown while thre document is not protected for forms.
    - Note the name of the bookmark (you can change it if you like)
    - Tick the check box labeled "Calculate on Exit".
    - Click OK.
    - Go to the location where you want to refer to the dropdown.
    - Press Ctrl+F9 to insert field brackets { } (don't type them yourself)
    - Type the bookmark name of the dropdown between the brackets.
    - Press F9 to toggle field codes and update the reference.
    - Protect the document for forms.
    - If you select an item in the dropdown and press Tab, the field in the other location will reflect the selected item.

Thanks Hans. I did try to copy & paste and it didn't work when I tried it. Just tried it now and it worked. Not sure what I did wrong the first time around - oh well.

    Thanks again
