    Upgrade from 2002 to 2003 (2002 SP-2)

We are currently going through the initial planning stages of upgrading from Office 2000 to Office 2003 some time in September, 2005
I have a concern, valid or not, that some of our databases may not produce the same results in the new version.
Is there any information available that details the differences between these versions.
What I'm after is differences in results of function, or whether the same functions now require different arguments.
eg. isnull(), currently false returns 0, will this be different in the new version
We will be going through a period of testing prior to migrating, but if I could get a list detailing the differences at the discrete level, we could focus our resources to those areas where we know there will be a difference.

As in your Excel question, the subject and question do not match (are you upgrading from 2000 or from 2002?)

In general, Microsoft will not change the way existing functions work in a new version. It may add new functions, and add arguments to existing functions, but with very few exceptions, existing databases should still work.

There is something else you may want to read up on: security is much tighter in Access 2003.

    General Office 2003:
    Office 2003 Security Enhancements
Microsoft Office 2003 Security White Paper

    Specific Access 2003:

    Oops. Yes you're right.
The upgrade is from 2000 to 2003.
Your second paragraph makes me feel a lot better. Thanks for the additional site links.

your concern is potentially very valid.

First Golden Rule -make sure that SP1 is applied to Access 2003.

If you have any continuous forms with conditional formatting applied on calculated controls they will not work. The database will get itself in an endless calculation loop and probably fall over. KB 555033

If you have any reports with conditional formatting applied in the details sections, I have found that if you refer to any text boxes with running sums it does not work properly (they only pick up the first line's value - not the total) <img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23>

I have found it overall to be much more flaky than Access 2000.

Upgrading to a vanilla Access 2003 from Access 2000 was a nightmare until SP1 was applied.
