    RE: WiFi Search Software

I have a Belkin card that slots into my portable and it comes with scan software. I was in Belgium the other day, undertook a scan and could not locate any WiFi hotspots. A friend using a Mac with different software located a network. Is the location of networks softeare dependent. If so, is there any recommended search software? Thanks.

I believe the default setting for Windows' built-in WiFi software is not to show unsecured connections. However, it has been a long time since I used that program, because for better or worse, my WiFi cards all came with their own software.

    Re: RE: WiFi Search Software

I have two laptops next to each other in the room where I am typing now. One of them (with a built in WiFi adapter) finds a particular remote network (presumably in one of the neighbours houses), the other (using Belkin or LinkSys cards) doesn't.

    I guess it's just down to different sensitivity of different cards <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>
