Auto Fill in Addresses in Outlook 2K?

I have spent a couple of very frustrating evenings trying to locate a feature in Outlook 2000 that will allow me to start typing an e-mail address in the To box that will then fill in the remainder of the address (assuming there are no duplicate beginning letters). I have used this feature in Outlook Express 5, and assumed that it would be available in Outlook 2000. Am I wrong?

I use Windows 2000 and Office 2000 Pro.

yes, you are wrong

outlook doesn't have autocomplete, it has resolution. you can type part of a name and resolve to it.

Thanks very much. I was afraid Autocomplete didn't exist, but it was worth asking, even at the risk of sounding totally stupid . I will try to get used to the ctrl-K combo then.

This is a great (and very helpful) forum! Thank you!

If the question is stupid, it's standing room only. It ranks up there as one of the most FAQ. Probably just ahead of hotmail in Outlook (no on that too)

You could also set up a nickname for the contact.

I read where you said you could put in part of the name and then resolve it .... could you explain this to a new user of Outlook ?

just type in part of a name into the to field and normally outlook will autoresolve it. if not, hit control k and jump start it.
outlook searches the address book for a match and returns the ones it finds. if more than one, it's underlined (red squiggley or green dotted) and a right click shows you what your choices are.
