Access Notification Strategies (Access 2k, Win 2K Pro)

I am probably going to start working on a project where the user/department would like to be notified of any actions needed (by date). I was wondering if there's any neat things you can do with Access to send a notification automatically in some way. I know in SQL Server (if you have access to Exchange) the db can send an e-mail based on a trigger but I suspect Access doesn't do this... At any rate, I can't think of anyway for an access program to notify you of something until it's actually opened.... But I was thinking 'can I get Access to create a TASK in Outlook at some point?' For example, during OnClose, a query/code/macro kicks in and sends Tasks to an assigned Outlook profile based on the actions entered during the app session... I can likely cobble together an event-driven Calendar appointment (having done that once on a webpage) but the idea of using Outlook Tasks (well Outlook in general) always appeals to me as that is the one program that is most likely to be always on...

From a bit of investigation I get the impression tasks are a little tricky to work with; my only advantage is I would be tailoring a solution for a single user/desktop/outlook mailbox.

    TIA

You could use the On Timer event of a form that stays open to trigger actions.

And yes, it is possible to create tasks in Outlook from Access. See for example <post#=68944>post 68944</post#> and MSKB article ACC2000: How to Use Automation to Add a Task or a Reminder to Microsoft Outlook.
