    Envelope addressing

When printing envelopes using "Tools" - "envelopes & labels" if I chose to use an address other than the default, a help box appears asking if I wish to save the new address as the default I DON'T, is there a way of turning this annoying feature off? I'm using Word 2000.

    Re: Envelope addressing

    Hi,

I take it you mean the default return address. While you almost certainly could turn this off using VBA, it would be a time-consuming task.

You might consider instead preparing a special letter template that has your alternative return address set as the AutoText entry "EnvelopeExtra1."

To prepare such an entry, in the template use the Envelopes & Labels Wizard and click on the "Add to Document" button. Edit the return address as produced; format it however you want; even add a logo if you want. Select the new return address and save it as the AutoText entry "EnvelopeExtra1" to that template (not to Normal.dot or "All available templates").

Then Undo your way back to before the envelope appeared and save your template. When you use this template to type a letter, check the Omit box for return address when you prepare an envelope. Hope this helps.

    Re: Envelope addressing

You may want to download a <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.addbalance.com/word/download/envelopetutorial.zip> tutorial</A> that I slapped together to help answer another question about envelopes. It isn't finished so it isn't listed on my download page but it should help.

It has a formatted envelope with a barcode field on the bottom and also has an
explanation of the EnvelopeExtra AutoText entries in letterhead. When I get it finished, it will be listed with the other downloads on <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.addbalance.com/word/download/index.htm> my downloads page</A> (addbalance.com/word/download/index.htm).

You may also want to look at: <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/General/EnvelopeFormat.htm>http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Genera...lopeFormat.htm</A>.

    Hope this helps,
