User Pic Dilemma

I'm trying to set up a new User Pic, but the old one simply resists being replaced...

I go into the my profile, I clear the path in the user pic box and them browse to the new one that is 65x75 pixels and 3K in size. When i preview my profile, the OLD pic is back again.
What am i missing????????
Regards,
Rudi

A clean cache.
Either empty it or press Cntrl while you click on reload.

Re: User Pic Dilemma

There, I did it.

I scrubbed my wallet and the couple of bills I had in it. Its now clean. I then emptied my wallet from all the cash and pressed control while putting the bills back into my wallet. Am i doing the right thing? Should I put the cash somewhere else? How much cash does it take to replace the user pic? You must be more specific Leif!

I'm not.
Try rebooting - it is definitely updated here.

If all else fails, you've probably got dirty pipes feeding data to your pc from the internet. I suggest you take a look at Pipescrubber - a utility that may help.

Re: User Pic Dilemma

I was also seeing your old picture here (same as in your attachment) then in IE I hit Ctrl+Refresh (F5) and your new one appeared. Try that.

Tx Alan. I rebooted, and it was fine!

While at it, what is the diff. between F5 (refresh) and CTRL+F5 ?

I believe using Cntrl forces a reload of your cache, regardless of your settings, whereas using Refresh alone will follow your IE settings for using stored files.

Also, be aware that your old image may still pop up years from now.

I've employed several images over the years. I'm currently, well, I'm "eye", but <post#=23543>post 23543</post#> Still shows me as Kevin. I saw an old post last night that showed me as a Brian-Mulroney look-alike.

I suspect that these posts are now "locked for editing", being of an old age, and hence the image can't be updated by the robot.

Re: User Pic Dilemma

All Lounge pages are generated dynamically from the database. The cause of the different userpics is that your current user picture is a .jpg, and the one in which you look like Kevin is a .gif.

If you change your user picture to another .jpg, all of your posts with a .jpg userpic will display the new picture, but posts with a .gif userpic will show the Kevin one.

If you change your user picture to a new .gif, all of your posts with a .gif userpic will display the new picture instead of the Kevin one, but posts with a .jpg userpic will show your current one.

Thanks for this explanation, Hans. (wanders off to dream up a devious use for this little snippet .....)
