Autofilter count in Status Bar? (Excel 2002)

Is there a way to control the display of the count of records in the status bar with excels autofilter. I have a list that simply says "Filter Mode" when I apply a filter. I want a count of records. Why does it sometimes (for other files ) give a count, and for some files it just says Filter Mode???

    Tx

(Edited by sdckapr on 20-Apr-05 08:05. Added PS)
Does XL2000: Excel AutoFilter Status Bar Message Shows "Filter Mode" answer your question (it is for XL2000, but I think is still valid for XL2002)

    PS
You can get a count of records in a cell using SUBTOTAL function...

    Thx Steve,

The link cleared things up for me. The problem was the amount of functions in the sheet!
