    Track Changes - Rev Bars (2002 SP3)

    I want rev bars only.
I've pushed all the 'buttons' that I can find in Tools > Options > Track Changes, but Word still insists on showing me what I have replaced in the text (using strikethroough) in addition to rev bars.

    Any thoughts?

If you choose TOOLS | OPTIONS, and click on the Track Changes tab, you will find a way to switch off the Inserted and Formatting marks. Unfortunately the deleted text is indicated by balloons and if you switch that off, you end up with text that is strikethrough. I did a search on tracking changes and nothing seems to indicate that the strikethrough feature can be ignored in this version. I also notice that if you switch off the Insertions / deletions option, it removes the Rev. Bars too.

Don't take my answer as the Alpha/Omega...(I have been proven wrong in this wonderful place!!!) Stay tuned for any other replies to confirm...

Before the advent of balloons, there were more options for marking additions and deletions. These are still available to macro writers. Take a look at <post#=453464>post 453464</post#> for an example of how to switch between strikethrough and not-there-at-all. Does it help?

P.S. I am a big fan of always having changes visible on the screen to avoid various types of "whoops" situations.

    Thanx Jefferson,

Chris, here is an example of Jeffersons code in a document. I attached the code to a Command Button in the document. As Jefferson mentions, you cound add it to a toolbar or place it in the menus if you want to. The code toggles between showing the strikethrough and hiding the deletions and preserving the Rev. Bars!!!
