Duplicate Icons on Bookmark Toolbar (Firefox 1.0.3

I have a small but annoying problem with Firefox. For some reason, some of the links on my Bookmark toolbar have copied the icon from another link I've put them next to each other for the purposes of this post, but I don't think that they were adjecent at the time - if you know what I mean.

Re: Duplicate Icons on Bookmark Toolbar (Firefox 1

    Hi Joe

Checking through the bugzilla reports, this appears to be bug 271359 - Wrong favicons appear on bookmarks for sites with no icon of their own

The bug report has details of how it happens. This will probably not be fixed until Firefox 1.1 is released.

    Thanks Tony.

That looks to be the answer.

I can't be 100% positive, but it seems to me that the sites with the wrong icon used to have their own icon which also appeared at the start of the address line - I assume these are created by the owner of the site. I deleted the links and recreated them and those sites no longer have such an icon. I'm wondering whether the replacement happens when a site owner changes/deletes their own 'favicon'.

    Thanks again
