    Office 95 --> Office 97

    <img src=/S/headthrob.gif border=0 alt=headthrob width=15 height=15>
    We have recently run into problems where Office 97 was installed to replace Office 95 on a couple of PCs. Has anyone else run into this before?

    Can't open Offices files by double clicking on the file.
    Can't open Office attachments in GroupWise.

    Can't help with the GroupWise problem, but the first looks like the file types have become disassociated from the relevant Office applications. To check this open Windows Explorer and (WE97 View | Options |File Types; WE2K Tools | Folder Options | File Types) and search for the file extension e.g. doc, which will be listed as Microsoft Word Document. This should show (in this example) Opens with Winword. If not, you need to select the Edit option, then select the Open option and then Edit again. Unless you know exactly what is needed (and I don't) you need to copy all the details of the fields from a machine which does work and insert into the appropriate fields. Obviously, repeat for .xls, .ppt etc files.
    I don't have any idea why, if this is the problem, it should have happened on only a couple of machines.
    Nevertheless, hope this helps.

    Thanks--I'll try that and see if that's it.
