Insert-File Feature Does Not Work (Word XP/SP3)

    It has occurred on a few machines where, when choosing Insert - File from the menu bar, nothing happens. By nothing, I mean absolutely nothing - no error message, no Insert File window - nothing. We are using a document management system (iManage) and when we choose Insert - iManage File, that brings up iManage with no problem. However, we need to be able to insert files that are not saved in our system. Any ideas?

    I'm not familiar with iManage, but perhaps they're gently trying to force you to use their version of InsertFile by intercepting the command (with code that does nothing). You may want to clarify with them. In the meantime, try the following macro to force the dialog to appear.

Sub MyInsertFile()
    Dialogs(wdDialogInsertFile).Show
    End Sub

    HTH!

    Thank you for this macro - it provided a perfect work-around to the problem! Just what we needed - thanks!
