Count Number of Unique Entries (2000)

Hi Loungers, I'd like to count the number of unique timekeepers in given range. I am using the formula {=sum(1/countif(a2:a879, a2:a879))} as obtained from a Walkenbach book; however, this is not working.

    Any ideas?

Are there blank cells in the range? If so, try one of the formulas suggested in the thread starting at <post#=466150>post 466150</post#>. Otherwise, please post more info or attach a small demo workbook.

That formula works fine for me. Are you entering it as an array formula by holding down Ctrl+Shift when you press Enter to enter the formula and not typing the {} around the formula (Excell will add the {} around the formula if you correctly enter it as an array formula). You also can not have any empty cells in the range to use that formula.

Hans/Legare, thanks. I finally got it to work; although, felt sure I had entered w/control shift enter before. Sorry, but thanks for your guidance.
