midi will not play (Win XP Home)

Not sure where this question belongs. When I send a friend an email with a midi song "in the background", he gets no sound. I can send him wavs and it works just fine. We checked his "file type" settings and midi is set up to play with Windows Media Player. He can music CDs in his cd player and they work just fine. Any suggestions?

What happens if you send the midi file as an attachment ?? Can he play it once he receives it ?? What device plays it ?? Can he imbed it in an email and send it back to you and does it work when it arrives ??

Problem has been resolved - went to Control Panel, Sounds, AUDIO and changed the device that the MIDI plays with.
