    Number field zero (2003)

I am trying to store zip codes in a number field. There is a glitch in that whenever the cde begins with a '0' it is omitted. Example 01234 stored as 1234.
Can the field be forced to accept a zero or must I switch to a text field.

You can set the Format property of the field to 00000. This will make the field display leading zeros if necessary. The leading zeros will not be stored in the field, however. If you want the stored value to include leading zeros, you must convert the field to a text field.

You might find it easier to change the Zip to a text field. For one thing, it will make it easier if you want to do searches for partial zip codes; for example, to print labels for all zip codes that start with "346".

If you are not planning to do arithemetic using the ZIP code, it makes much more sense to store them as text fields.
