Security Warnings (XP-Pro / IE6)

I don't know if this is an IE 6 issue, or part of XP-Pro...

I am setting up XP-Pro SP-2, and I'm seeing something when downloading files from IE that I haven't seen before: I'm being asked whether to "Run, Save, or Cancel" for each file... with no "preferred action" choice...

I'm not using any type of download manager...

What did I do to cause this event to start occurring, and how can I stop it?

I understand the "dangers".... but I "used to" either already have the warning turned off, or be able to do so...

And now I cannot figure how...

I most certainly appreciate the fiction.... while I'm slogging through, is there a quick answer to:

1) Since that was posted in September 2004, how come I'm just coming across it this time? and

2) Isn't there a "quick" "I allow everything" defau;t I can use?

1.) You haven't read the MS documentation for SP-2.
2.) NO. This is a security enhancement to at least make you acknowledge a possibly dangerous file. MS has been beaten up so badly by the press, competitors, and clients they finally have decided to error on the side of safety rather than functionality.

Although I plead guilty to not *thoroughly" reading the SP-2 docs (since my XP-Pro came "pre-burned" with SP-2) but, as I mentioned, remember me, I've re-installed at least 3 times since I got the SP-2/XP-Pro, and, strangely, I had never seen this before.

Just so you know, that although I can (certainly) be a PITA, I'm NOT going totally crazy:

I use GetRight as a download manager. I hadn't reset it up yet when I had tried that download.

Once I did, GR controls the security dialog of IE, and the next download went fine.

So I'm not crazy, just a bother.

Thanks for the link and your patience. It IS interesting to note all the changes incorporated into SP-2... Since mine came "with", I hadn't had to go through all that decision-making.
