Re: Unidentified Circle Object (Word 2002)

If you display non-printing characters (Tools | Options..., View tab, All), form fields are indicated by "small circles". Form fields are the only places where you can type text in a document protected for forms. Your document contains LOTS of form fields.

Form fields can be inserted in a document while it is unprotected by using the Forms toolbar.

Re: Unidentified Circle Object (Word 2002)

    Great...thats for identifying them!
    Now...
If I re-insert a form field into the table cell, it adds 5 circles, and throws out the cell size. Notice the other cell further down..here there is only one circle.
Bottom line: I need to restore all the cells to allow for typing when the form is protected. Any ideas, as I'm getting frustrated with this doc!!!

The other text form fields in that table have been set to a maximum length of 1 character. You can copy and paste one of them into other cells, or create a new text form field from the Forms toolbar, double click it and set the maximum length to 1. Then click OK.

Why do things seem so easy for you? When you answer questions it makes such logical sense, yet its the furthest thing from my puny mind at the time!!!

    Unidentified Circle Object (Word 2002)

    Good Morning,

I got this doc from a user. I notice a small circle (non print char) in the table grids which seems to unprotect the cell sothat data can be typed in there when form protection is on. If I recall, this char is shown for a non breaking line.
Can I find out what is happening in this document? What is this small circle? and how is it allowing typed text in the table if the form is form protected?

    What am I missing here!!!
