    Re: NVidia Update

    Hi Viking,

I have Nvidia GeForce FX Go5600 in my laptop and downloaded the new driver set. It said that GeForce FX 5600 is included (not FX Go5600 though). As might be expected, during install it says that I don't have the required hardware. Also in the readme.txt GeForce FX5600 is not mentioned (in contradiction to what is said on the website). What does "Go" mean? Any idea about how to get an update otherwise?

    Regards, Teun

    Teun,
I don't know exactly what the "GO" stands for but apparently it is the designator for laptops. At any rate try the link below for NVidia drivers specifically for the GO series.

    Get it at GO Drivers

    Another site is More GO

"go" is nVidia designating a mobile card from a desktop with the same number. I am using driver version 7.2.3.0 for my Dell M60 with a Go700 card from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ Read the instructions on their site and check the supported cards page. It has been stable for me.

    Bob,

Thanks a lot, I'd never found this place otherwise.

I have download the NVidia Update, however, I do not really see the difference. Is it just me?

    But did you install it? <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Seriously, this update doesn't offer many performance enhancements, it's mostly bug fixes and support for new video cards. You can view/download the Release Notes (v71.89) from the same page from which you downloaded the driver. This PDF document describes the changes in detail.
