    multi drives / partitions

Is it possible to configure my network with multiple drives & a partitioned drive with several drive letters so that they all appear as one single drive?

    I don't think so.
If it can be done, I haven't heard of a way to it.

    Re: multi drives / partitions

The main way you identify a disk partition is by drive letter. If you had a single drive letter which pointed at a number of partitions, you would need some more operating system software which worked out on which partition the file you actually wanted was located.

I know what you mean, though. If you have hundreds of servers, you very soon run out of drive letters for the networked drives, and need to take a lot of care and attention over them...

I guess that is really more to the point. Is there a utility that would handle this? Since I have all that hard drive space available, I'd like to have a single filing system where the physical location of a file would be immaterial to the user as they would only see one single "virtual" drive.

Are these multiple drives all on a single computer/server?

Kinda both. I have one main drive that was partitioned prior to upgrading to Windows 2000. I also have tons of un-used disk space available throughout the network on each individual computer.

The "one main drive" should be feasible - the 'tons of space around the network" I would forget about. I can't begin to imagine how an operating system would cope with files fragmented across a network, problems with the LAN, networked pc's going off-line, etc.
